"COVID-19 won’t leave anyone."
"We will all die!"
"This is the end of the world." "I’ll lose my beloved ones." "If I got infected, there wont be enough facilities to cure me and 2020 is the worst year ever!”
We all have been thinking about these negative thoughts everyday. This has been even doubled with the hype made in the social media worldwide.
But does it ever cross your mind why COVID-19 made this propaganda though it’s much weaker than SARS ,which was a crisis in 2002, and MED- flu later in 2012?
SARS-CoV: 2002-2003 epidemic, that affected over 26 countries, more than 8098 cases were reported and about 764 deaths.
MERS-CoV: 2012 epidemic, that affected 27 countries, 2494 cases and took the lives of 848 individuals.
SAR-CoV had a fatality rate of 5 every 50 individuals and MERS-Cov had 17/50 individual. Their fatality rate were much higher in comparison to the recent pandemic COVID-19, which is 1/ 50 people.Doesn’t this actually make us think twice? How does the global hysteria of this flu spread faster than the flu itself?
How people are panicking, spreading rumors and irrelevant information without giving a second thought on the right actions, precautions, and care that should be taken during this global crisis? And how it needs to be approached with extreme awareness, care and appropriate medical knowledge?
Although, social media has been useful in many aspects in our lives, we are starting to use it as a weapon against our survival. Instead of using it as a defense against all sorts of illiteracy, violence, racism, misconceptions and misunderstanding, we are using it as an atomic bomb that will soon destroy everyone in the area and later will bring a future generations with all sorts of anomalies.
Keep calm, during this storm. Don’t follow the herd without actually understanding the situation and being aware of all what needs to be done. It’s a universal war that soon will end and the victory will not be for the nation with more weapons, atomic bomb and economy. It’s for the nation with high self esteem, understanding and awareness.
Enjoy the quarantine and don’t take it as a punishment, instead use it to spend time with yourself and understand what’s your next step in life and your plan for it. Spend time with your beloved ones. Take sometime for your body and soul to rest. Read, exercise, look forward, improve yourself and worry less people.
