Have you ever heard about MENTAL DIET?

Menna Shaker

“You become what you think about most. But you also attract what you think about most." -Rhonda Byrne (The secret)

In the same way that you choose certain types of food to enter your body, you can also choose certain thoughts to enter your mind and exclude others. Choosing between junk food and healthy food could be reflected also by choosing between negative and positive thoughts.

Our body depends on what we eat, and similarly the way our mind works depends on what we think of.We are all ready to pay whatever it costs to keep our bodies in the perfect, healthy shape, but are we ready to do this with our minds?

Preserving our body health requires various types of food diet, and definitely preserving our mental health requires a mental diet. So, what is the mental diet?

Simply, it’s a certain kind of diet that depends on your “Concentration”. By carefully selecting your thoughts, which means that you will have to select only the positive thoughts and topics to enter your mind and ignore anything else.

Definitely, it is difficult to control the first thought that pops in your mind, yet it’s in your hand to control the second one. A normal person takes at least a week. So you won’t feel a change from the first, second or even the third day. Mental diet is a life changing experience that later has a huge impact on your life.

But in the same way that people gain weight back because they were not preserving their diet, you will retain your normal mentally unhealthy state if you don’t commit for at least one week straight.

You can follow simple steps to ensure you are doing it right:

- You should be aware of your thoughts, and ask yourself whether these thoughts are useful or not, so that you can selectively choose between the numerous ideas, topics and thoughts that enters your mind daily.

- Deal with your mind as a memory card. Would you save anything unnecessary on this card? Of course not, so acknowledge the fact that you can select what to enter your mind.

- Improve your concentration. As you do so, you gain the inner strength necessary to focus your mind on the thoughts of your choice. Well-developed concentration ability enables you to ignore thoughts that you do not want.

- Don’t be frustrated if you fail over and over again. It’s not easy. So keep trying.

- Try to choose your thoughts, and reject thoughts that cause strain, stress and sorrow.

Your mental diet should not include thoughts of anger, resentment and envy. Your mental diet should also keep you away from thoughts about the past, and fears about the future.

Mental diet will make you aware of all your thoughts, your mental and emotional patterns. It will give you alternative ways for empowering yourself. It will create a whole new world inside of you! A world which includes new habits, new standards, new disciplines, new plans and new expectations.

The way you thought in the past has led you to who you are right now and the condition of your life in the future will be based on the thoughts you choose to have today. So, let’s change our thoughts so we can change the world.
